Many companies use RSS to publish content, but how can you track who reads that content? My friend Josh just put out a great article on how to track WordPress RSS feeds in Google Analytics.
RSS feeds typically contain some of your most loyal followers, so setting up RSS feed tracking is a great way to monitor and see what content and events occur with those users.
I’d recommend setting up a few custom segments once this is in place:
- one segment that includes just your RSS readers
- one segment that excludes just your RSS readers
- one segment where the user exited to your RSS feed via an event
These should yield tremendous insight to your reports.
